About Us

Who We Are

We are specialists in rare & uncommon conifers- 10cm seedlings to specimens at 550cm+ (many at 20-30+ years old). Choice broad leaves are kept too.

With more than 3,500 stock lines available, if you don't see what you want-just ask. Bare root hedging and specialist hedging is also catered for. Many items here can be exact item offers, which is our bid to increase transparency and offer you exactly what you see. The cost of maintaining these offers and keeping them to hand is considerable, and rarely offered elsewhere in commercial horticulture.

We propagate many new items each year from seed, cutting and by graft from our vast mother stock collection We do buy some items in from a our main collaborator (with some 35,000 line available). However, we are not simply middlemen like many other nurseries.

We are not open to passing trade. We do not make our living from selling coffee, fish & chips, cream teas, postcards, plastic niknaks, tropical fish, yoga lessons by the lake and boxes of wine. (though we do also sell fine woodworking. The owner has had a long and varied career as a master craftsman of wood in cabinet and furniture making, parquetry and much more).

Thus we charge a sustainable price for quality(and often rare) plants based on how difficult or timely they are to grow/re-supply availability/rarity/how old they are v whether we can re-grow them to same size in our lifetime v whether we have good mature examples in our own arboretum. Much of our stock and mother stock is not commercially available elsewhere in the UK or Europe and has cost a small fortune with 17 yrs of dedication to amass.

The minimum shop order is £240.00 inc vat, plus delivery. Prices are displayed inc. vat(though the vat value is shown at checkout).

We are usually buzzing around packing single items or crates of plants at several thousand £'s, or actually focusing on growing our own stock, or looking after the 24 acre site here. We try to support smaller order customers, but also encourage them to support us too, and keep things at a sustainable level for us
